All scheduled courses are postponed until further notice due to the International Statistics Conference organized by The ASASL.

It is with great pleasure that to announce the incorporation of the Institute of Applied Statistics, Sri Lanka (IASSL) by an act of Parliament on 10th August 2011. The speaker signed the relevant bill (No. 38 of 2011) on 20th September 2011. With this the existence of the ASASL had come to an end and the IASSL was borne; the entire membership of the ASASL has automatically been enrolled as members of the new IASSL.

The second workshop organized by the ASASL on 'Basic Statistics & Data Analysis for Managers and Researchers' was successfully held on 16th and 18th March 2011 at the Seminar room of the ASASL.

The office of the ASASL, hither to located at the second floor of the SLAAS building, moved to a new location early January on the second floor of the OPA building, ‘The Professional Center’, 275/75 Prof. Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, off Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07.

Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) granted membership to the Applied Statistics Association of Sri Lanka. Now Statistician is accepted as a profession in the country.

A two day seminar organized by ASASL on ‘Statistics for Medical Research’ was held on 2^nd and 3^rd November 2010 at the OLAK Management Centre. Prof. M. R. Sooriyarachchi was the academic coordinator of this event.
